Open gate to the world!
Through the educational activities we carry out, we have set out to invest in the young generation, so that the children have healthy premises to succeed in whatever field they propose to work in and wherever their steps take them in the world.
The American International School of Transylvania Association (AIST) is a non-profit organization, founded by a team of young, creative and passionate people, teachers and parents alike. Our main goal is to be the Open Gate to the world!, to support the extraordinary potential that children and young people from the north-west of the country have, to succeed in life as adults of exceptional human value and internationally recognized professionals.
Volunteering
Through Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps projects, we bring together young volunteers from Romania and across Europe for educational, intercultural and community workshops in Baia Mare and Maramureș.
General English/German
Our foreign language courses are organized through efficient, pleasant, creative and modern methods of non-formal education. The activities take place in numerically limited groups and formed according to the age and starting level of the participants.
Cambridge English
Our association is accredited to run preparation courses and host Exams from the full range of Cambridge English programmes.

Volunteering in Europe and in the community
As a European Commission accredited organization for Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps, and the operational unit in Maramureș for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, AIST connects young people from north-western Romania with international learning and solidarity opportunities.
Over 12 years of activity, more than 300 international volunteers from 25 countries and thousands of local volunteers have contributed to the development of over 30,000 children and young people in kindergartens, schools, high schools and community centers across Baia Mare and rural Maramureș.
